Introducing Pavlo Getman, a distinguished Youth Orchestra Director and Music Professor with a rich experience spanning over 25 years. Pavlo is not just a bassoon teacher, but also a piano teacher, dedicated to shaping the future generation of musicians and fostering a deep appreciation for music and art in their lives.

Pavlo holds a Master’s degree in coaching both small and large music ensembles. His vast experience includes preparing instrumental players from basic to professional levels, conducting operas, and managing youth and professional orchestras. His fluency in Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and English ensures effective communication with a diverse range of students and staff.

Pavlo’s remarkable academic journey includes graduating with honors from the Music School of M.I. Glinka in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine, and the Moscow Conservatory of P.I. Tchaikovsky in Moscow, Russia. His talent was recognized early on, winning the 2nd place in the National Ukrainian Competition of Young Performers in 1983 and securing the 1st place in 1984. His musical prowess led to a nomination for a Grammy Latino in the Best Classical Music Record category for “Tango Mata Danzon Mata Tango” with the Orchestra of Baja California in 2001.

As the Founder, Artistic Director, and Soloist Bassoon of Tijuana Camerata in Baja California, Mexico, Pavlo is committed to delivering high-quality cultural experiences to the bi-national region of Mexico/US. His teaching roles have included coaching woodwinds at the National Youth Symphony in Mexico City, conducting the Mexicali Youth Symphony and the Tijuana Youth Symphony, and instructing bassoon players and chamber music ensembles at the School of Arts of the Autonomous University of Baja California in Ensenada.

Pavlo’s illustrious career as a Principal Bassoon for the Orchestra of Baja California includes performing in numerous national tours and concerts, such as the “Musica Sin Fronteras” concert with Luciano Pavarotti as the soloist. He has also participated in the Cervantino Music Festival for two consecutive years (2004-2005) and performed at the Lincoln Center under the direction of Maestro Angel Romero in 2005.

In addition to his successful music career, Pavlo is actively involved in community programs like Sistema Nacional de Fomento Musical, where he serves as a director and conductor, educating underprivileged communities.
