Our non-profit mission fosters an inclusive, supportive environment where music education is accessible to all.
K&M Music School is dedicated to making high-quality music education accessible to all students. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, we focus on developing well-rounded musicians who appreciate the rich tradition of classical music while building skills that benefit them for life.
We believe in educating the whole child through music. Our methodology blends European conservatory traditions with modern teaching approaches, creating an engaging learning environment that fosters creativity, discipline, and joy.
At K&M, we believe in building complete musicians. Our 9-year comprehensive program is more than just lessons; it's a structured journey that weaves together:
This integrated approach ensures students not only learn to play an instrument but also understand, appreciate, and confidently share the language of music. Explore the program phases, instruments, and group classes below.
Our 9-year program guides students through three distinct developmental phases, ensuring a solid foundation and progressive challenge.
Grades 1-3
Building essential techniques, musical literacy, and a lifelong love for music through engaging activities.
Grades 4-6
Expanding technical fluency, exploring diverse repertoire, deepening theory/history understanding, and growing ensemble skills.
Grades 7-9
Refining artistry, tackling advanced repertoire, developing personal interpretation, and preparing for future musical pursuits.
Choose your musical voice. Our core instrument programs provide dedicated pathways within our comprehensive 9-year curriculum, each fostering technical excellence and profound musical expression.
The piano offers a complete musical experience where melody, harmony, and rhythm converge under your fingertips. Our program develops strong technique, music literacy, and expressive capabilities, enabling students to master diverse repertoire from classical sonatas to contemporary pieces with artistic sensitivity and technical brilliance.
The violin's singing voice has captivated audiences for centuries. Our program develops precise intonation, rich tone production, and fluid bow technique. Students progress from simple folk tunes to virtuosic works, mastering both solo repertoire and orchestral playing while developing the musical sensitivity and technical foundation for a lifetime of music-making.
The cello's rich, resonant voice spans from bass to tenor, offering unparalleled expressive range. Our program cultivates proper technique, tonal development, and stylistic understanding through a sequenced approach to repertoire. Students develop both solo artistry and ensemble skills, enabling them to communicate with emotional depth through this versatile instrument.
Beyond our core strings and piano, K&M offers a full range of instruments to match every child's musical voice — voice, guitar, ukulele, flute, saxophone, bassoon, and harp — plus toddler group classes for our youngest musicians. Every program follows the same comprehensive, conservatory-inspired approach.
Complementing private instruction, these group classes form the bedrock of our comprehensive curriculum, building well-rounded musicians.
Train your ear, unlock musical understanding. This class develops crucial listening, sight-singing, and dictation skills using the movable 'do' solfege system.
Learn the language of music. This class demystifies music's structure, covering notation, scales, keys, intervals, chords, harmony, and form through interactive learning.
Journey through time and sound. Explore Western music's evolution, discovering key composers, influential works, stylistic periods, and cultural contexts.
Sing together, grow together. Choir develops vocal technique, harmony singing, ensemble skills, and performance confidence in a collaborative setting.
Follow the path from enthusiastic beginner to accomplished musician through our carefully designed learning phases.

Group classes are formed by age and level — enrollment closes when groups fill.
Enrollment is year-by-year — there's no binding long-term contract. Join or transition out anytime.
No prior experience is necessary! Our program is designed for beginners (typically starting around age 6-7) and guides them progressively. We assess placement for students with prior experience. We also offer toddler group classes from age 2.
This is the most common fear — and it's exactly what our program is designed to prevent. Children usually quit when progress feels slow and playing feels mechanical. Our ear training (solfeggio) makes progress faster and visible; choir and ensembles make music social; and recitals make it rewarding. Children rarely quit something they're getting good at. And because enrollment is year-by-year, you're never locked in if it's not the right fit.
Yes, consistent daily practice is crucial. Students will need access to a suitable instrument (acoustic piano, quality digital piano, or appropriate size string instrument). We provide guidance on rentals and purchases.
Expect weekly private lessons (30-60 min depending on level), group theory/musicianship classes (e.g., Solfeggio, Theory, History), and ensemble (like Choir). Daily home practice grows from ~20 min initially to 60+ min in advanced grades.
Yes. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit, accessibility is core to our mission. We offer need-based scholarships and sliding scale tuition. Please indicate your interest during enrollment; we'll provide application details.
Not at all. While the curriculum is designed for comprehensive 9-year development, enrollment is year-by-year. Families join or transition out at any point — there's no binding long-term contract. We simply encourage completing each academic year for continuity.
Our program offers a holistic, structured curriculum integrating private instruction with essential group learning (theory, aural skills, history, ensemble) from the start. This conservatory-inspired model fosters well-rounded musicianship, consistent progress benchmarks, and a supportive peer community.
